It's been a while...
But I've haven't had anything happen that's really been motivating enough to report.
Still don't.
Some small updates though, how about that?
Great.
So, we've officially decided today that Matt will be replacing our temporarily displaced in Ireland second guitar player, meaning that Matt will sing and play until Kevin gets back in October. Now that we have that settled, I can get down to panicing about our first gig in a month that I don't feel we're even remotely ready for. Also, we're hopefully going to do a mix tomorrow of our demo tunes that will be finished enough to finally put on a Myspace page for people to hear. Hopefully. Fingers crossed.

I'm shaping up to have a good couple of weeks reading. I was putzing around the book store yesterday and saw that Twighlight Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko had come out. I hadn't been expecting that, but I snatched it right up. If you're wondering, Twighlight Watch is the sequel to Day Watch, which was the sequel to Night Watch, all of which are Russian fantasy novels. I discovered them beacuse of the film adaptations. Both Night Watch and Day Watch were both really cool.
And then, while putzing around Amazon.com yesterday, I saw that Chuck Klosterman IV appears to now be out in paperback. If so, that'll be my next read. I'm about ripe for some Klosterman-esque views on pop culture.
And by them time I finish with that, it should be just about around July 21st. And we all know what that means. The final Harry Potter book, which, thanks to advance ordering, should be arriving on my doorstep with the morning mail. I'm incredibly psyched for that one. I've spent the past six months re-reading the series (one a month) to prepare.

There's been some good new tunes recently, too.
The new Kelly Clarkson album is pretty good. Took a couple of listens to get into it, but I am now.
A while back, Fil had reccomended an album by Lewis Taylor called Stoned, pt. 1. It was OK, but I was never able to get fully into it because I felt the production was too slick for what I pictured the tunes could be. Well, based on further reccomendations from others, I went and checked out The Lost Album by Taylor. The production is still pretty slick, but it suits the songs better on this outing.
How about some Hank Williams III for some old(er) school country with some rock and roll attitude? Yes please.
Jason Isbell may ahve left the Drive-By Truckers (Boo!) but has released his first solo album (Yay!). A little skewed towards the slower side, but still damn good.
Nick Drake in general has been satisfying any desires for 70s acoustic folk.
And then for some out and out rockin'! (yes the exclamation point is necesary) we've got some Clutch and Raging Slab.

Let's see. Anything else? I don't have to move; our landlord is neither selling the house nor raising the rent. Week and a half until vacation and SC, and I need it.
That's it for now.
